Below you will find 1st Grade In-School Science Field Trip Programs. Each program lists the Science Standard that is covered.
Virtual program experiments and activities may vary slightly -but guaranteed to be fun, engaging and meet curriculum standards.
Funky Forces (VIRTUAL or In-School)
Catch a notion of “loco-Motion” in this tug-a-war of forces. Chemically concoct a batch of magnetic detecting slime. Attract, repel, push and pull with many magnificent magnets!
Essential Standard: 1.P.1.1, 1.P.1.2, 1.P.1.3, K.P.1.2: Understand how forces (pushes or pulls) affect the motion of an object.
Astro Adventures (Virtual or In-School)
Have a blast and join us on this outer space adventure. Explore the fascinating features of our moon and sun. Become part of the launch pad while launching rockets. Investigate moon movements and more astronomical fun experiments!
Essential Standard: 1.E.1.1, 1.E.1.2: Recognize the features and patterns of the earth/moon/sun system as observed from Earth.
Soil Rocks! (VIRTUAL or In-School)
Turn on your head-lamps to “get the dirt” on soil and its super soaking powers. Junior Geologists will pan for real rocks and minerals while exploring useful earth materials. Sort, test… and keep everything you find!
Essential Standard: 1.E.2.1, 1.E.2.2: Understand the physical properties of Earth materials that make them useful in different ways.
Living Lab (VIRTUAL or In-School)
Living, breathing, eating, seeding… an environmental excursion for everyone! Explore the needs of plants and animals, then make-n-take home a mini-habitat in this Living Lab Adventure!
Essential Standard: 1.L.1.1, 1.L.1.2, 1.L.1.3, 1.L.2.1, 1.L.2.2: Understand characteristics of various environments and behaviors of humans that enable plants and animals to survive. Summarize the needs of living organisms for energy and growth.
Measure Treasure (In-school only)
Assemble your team of Junior Engineers and put those critical thinking skills to the test. Jr.Scientists will create awesome eruptions, construct a crane and “mix-n-measure” cool chemical concoctions!
Essential Standard: Science as Inquiry Statement: Measurements and More
