Ruler Race Force And Motion Science Experiment
In this fun and easy force and motion science experiment for kids, we’re going to explore the center of gravity by having a ruler race.
- Balance the ruler and the yardstick on their ends. Use the tips of your fingers to gently hold them in place.
- Lean the ruler and yardstick slightly forward and then release.
- Try the ruler race several times. Does the winner change?
How it Works:
The ruler will hit the ground first every time because the center of the balance of gravity is lower for the ruler. The closer the center of balance to the ground the faster the object will get to the ground.
