Bad Taste In Your Mouth Human Body Science Experiment
In this fun and easy science experiment, we’re going to explore and investigate the human body and taste buds.
Materials:
- Blindfold
- Equal size piece of celery, apple, carrot, and onion
- Friend
Instructions:
- Put on the blindfold.
- Pinch your nose closed.
- Have your friend place a piece of each item in your mouth one at a time.
- Try to determine what the food was that you tried.
- Attempt to use just the taste and not the textures to make your guesses.

How it Works:
When your nose is pinched, your ability to identify flavors is hindered. This indicates that smell contributes significantly along with taste buds to the ability to taste things. When our ability to smell is blocked, we are limited to identifying five sensations: sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and savory.
