Greetings Flyer:

To provide information to your students’ parents about the field trip, simply download the greetings flyer HERE and either:

  • Email it directly to your parents (cut down on paper waste) or
  • Print it out to send home with the students

What’s Covered?:

NC-STANDARDS

  • 2.P.2 Understand properties of solids and liquids and the changes they undergo.
  • 2.P.2.1 Give examples of matter that change from a solid to a liquid and from a liquid to a solid by heating and cooling.
  • 2.P.2.2 Compare the amount (volume and weight) of water in a container before and after freezing.
  • 2.P.2.3 Compare what happens to water left in an open container over time as to water left in a closed container.

Classroom Preparation:

  • No more than 6 groups
  • Please place a small table or desk for the Scientist to use in front of the classroom
  • Allow the Scientist to use a portion of your white/chalk board
  • Please provide a trash can at the front of the classroom
  • Remain in the classroom with your students (for liability reasons)
  • If necessary, help maintain appropriate classroom behavior
