Scientist Christine’s Experience:

Wow! The fourth graders at Little River are top notch geologists. As we excavated a dig site, we learned all about minerals, rocks, and even fossils (oh, my!). The junior geologist were able to classify the rocks and minerals they found during the dig by using color, luster, and cleavage. Additionally, we tested the rocks and minerals for magnetism, color, hardness, and electrical conductivity. Students were so excited about my visit that some even brought in their own rocks and minerals from home to share with me. Fantastic! All in all, it was a GREAT day, and the students were able to bring home the items they found during the dig in their very own personal mining bag.

Thanks Little River 4th graders!
