4th-7th Grade: The Great Science Build-Off & Is It Possible to Survive That…AGAIN?!?

The Great Science Build-Off & Is It Possible to Survive That…AGAIN?!?

Full Day: (9:30-4:30)
Half Day: AM Camp 9:30-12:30 / PM Camp 1:30-4:30

Dates:
June 17th – June 21st (Track 1)

August 5th – August 9th (Track 3)

The Great Science Build-Off
AM (9:30 – 12:30)

Science Fun for Everyone is gathering the best and the brightest minds to collaborate on some new, innovative engineering projects. No, wait, to COMPETE for them! Only the most functional, but also budget friendly designs will be chosen! Will you be the engineer that wins a contract to build new, wind powered cars? What about the strongest, longest, lightweight bridge? Or a wind turbine that can help lift and move the heaviest load? Work together with your team to beat out the other groups for the job. We will have lots of fun as we learn the science behind why things work the way they do, then put that to the test to actually design, create, and budget for our projects. May the best (but also cheapest) design win! (Actual prizes will be in coins, not real engineering jobs. Sorry!)

Is It Possible to Survive That…AGAIN?!?
PM (1:30 – 4:30)

We had so much fun exploring the craziest questions and concepts last year, that we’re back at it again! Join us to explore the answers to a whole new batch of questions that you always wonder about or maybe never even thought to ask! Imagine you were in an elevator and the cable snapped! Could you survive that? What would happen if the Earth suddenly stopped spinning (and why don’t we feel it spinning in the first place)? We’ll even test our taste buds on some interesting culinary treats as we wonder, what if we had to survive on a different animal’s diet? This week will leave you with a new list of incredibly interesting, sometimes useless, occasionally very helpful fun facts to share with your family and friends.
